Covid 19 and the LED Industry

How things will change…

2020 was a year for many event centers as well as church’s of many sizes and denominations, as a means to begin to look forward to the future. Upgrades were anticipated as these venues were looking forward, best serving their clients, customers, and congregations with new digital signage solutions. As it usually goes, around February the calls for events and installations came in and everything was moving along as usual. March came and Covid hit, and things came to a complete halt. The rentals, events and large gatherings for spring and summer months were canceled. It seemed as though anything that remotely involved the production industry or LED video walls and screens came to a complete and utter standstill.

Fast forward to end of May and early June.

We begin to see a shift, as more and more of the smaller venues really felt the impact of Covid and a necessity to have further reaching technology like live streaming in order to stay relevant and close to their people. Larger venues have taken a substantial hit, but are beginning to push harder for fall and winter events.

It seems as though most if not all are eager to get back to some semblance of normal. With that comes changes in how we are delivering our messages. The impact that it has had on production and LED walls in particular is staggering. The losses have been detrimental, but I believe as we begin to move forward and take the necessary steps to stay ahead, and relevant, we’ll begin to see (which we already have started to witness) a push towards easier, clearer, and more functional designs that really put an emphasis on clarity of messages. I believe that this will become an even bigger push for our industry and we’ll soon see a rise of more places and venues looking to LED screens to modernize their messaging.
